Sports & Leisure Vending
Vending machines are commonly found in sports and leisure centres, providing drinks and snacks, either stand alone or to supplement on site catering services. It is also usual, in these settings, to provide generic high energy drinks such as Lucozade and Gatorade, or more specialist products.
Sports and leisure sites also offer possibilities for different types of vending, more linked to the sports themselves rather than post-activity refreshment. We have received a number of enquiries from managers of such facilities asking, for example, whether it is possible to vend tennis balls, squash balls, shuttlecocks, and golf balls. So long as these are properly packaged, all these items can be vended by a standard machine.
In swimming pool environments, goggles, nose clips, and even swim suits and trunks/shorts can be vended if they are in suitable packaging.
Provision of a vending service for these items can be offered out of hours, or to supplement existing reception staff at busy times.
Conventionally, customers would pay for items with cash, ie notes or coins, but in a club environment where electronic key cards are used by members to gain entry, it is possible to link these to vending systems using payment through an account. This is an added advantage in terms of convenience for customers, but it also allows effective management of stock for managers/owners who can be alerted electronically when the level of stock falls below a certain level.
