The first of May was often regarded in history as the first day of the summer. Bag it up. Period.

It was announced last week that Wales has decided to give free sanitary products to school girls in a bid to fight the issue of Period Poverty. The move follows Scotland who declared last year that sanitary products should be available free for schools. The scheme in Wales will help girls in both primary and secondary schools and the hope is it will bring Period Poverty to an end in these educational institutions. On one of our blog articles, Intelligent Vending highlighted, a few months ago, a Period Poverty Starter Kit that may help anyone wanting to trial the scheme or invest in it whole-heartedly. There are some additional washroom accessories that companies and schools may like to invest in too; we have some excellent Sanitary Bags and Sanitary Dispensers by Lunar as well as some excellent Sanitary Bins to help companies and institutions aid girls through their cycles hygienically and with the dignity they deserve. England has yet to follow suit in funding free products but has announced that, in hospitals, women and girls will be given free sanitary products on request and a pledge has been made to fund free menstrual products in schools from September.
